Listen. Sometimes someone needs you to lend an ear as alternative to giving exposition. Sometimes you need someone to pour your heart into & suppose that was you..
Listen generously allowing others to open up. Recognize their circumstances. Stay positive. Put yourself in their shoes. Sympathize without pampering. Ask them questions about why they feel the way they do & the times it occurred without giving false hope, because we don’t want to lift someone for them to come crashing down. While hopeful thinking is nice, stay cautious of false hope & try not to confuse the two.
Be aware of the possessions & people they value. Those objects and relations make them who they are. Showing the people you love & care about is sometimes just listening. You’d never imagine how much weight you’ll lift from someone’s shoulders in so little time.
Also, when you’re speaking make sure to manage your tone. If you wish to have the same energy reciprocated, I suggest you share your perspective showing someone from your point of view avoiding aggression. Analyze your body language. Again, we want them to know you understand & value their feelings.
What needs fixed/worked on? Talk about it! Not everyone’s a mind reader. Share your needs. Express what is important to you/what is bothering you. & do your part to function the relationships in your life. Also understand it’s difficult for some individuals to communicate. Imagine being raised to ignore toxic behavior & act like it didn’t happen. You’re not taught to talk about certain problems. So you don’t realize when you should be communicating. & that interferes with your day to day life. Do you know what I mean?
By the end of the conversation help them find a goal they might want help reaching, at least offer your support. Try to understand your loved ones! We’re all here for the same purpose & we deserve love, health & happiness! We need to give & receive love endlessly. You have to listen to your inner truth & share those raw thoughts. Make sure they know you value their opinions and accept them unconditionally. We only live one time. Live with minimum regret.
